Weekend freebie drop on Steam
If you enjoy padding your Steam library without spending a cent, this weekend looks promising. Valve has added seven new free titles covering nearly every imaginable genre.
Before you start downloading everything, note this: not all of these freebies are permanent. One standout is switching to paid soon, so time really is money.
eWorlds countdown
The biggest highlight of this wave is eWorlds. This collectathon-style adventure and exploration game has been free since its 2024 release. The developer has changed course and, starting April 16, the game will cost 3.99 euros.
If you like uncovering hidden paths and solving mysteries in a vibrant world, you have only a few days to claim it permanently. eWorlds offers both cooperative and PvP modes and pushes players to look beyond the obvious to find secret areas many miss.
RPG and strategy for casual and ambitious players
For players who prefer a more relaxed session or like to see numbers climb while doing other things, Steam added two idle titles.
Evitania Online is an open-world RPG designed for people who can’t stay glued to the screen all day. You can choose Wizard, Warrior, or Rogue and let secondary characters work in professions like mining while you manage inventory and legendary gear.
Keg & Quest, developed by Piotr Mikosinski, has stirred some controversy. Community reviews are mixed, with many users saying the difficulty is high in a way that encourages in-app purchases. Since the initial download is free, you can try it and decide whether the challenge suits you.
For those seeking heavier visuals, Legend of YMIR fits the bill. Built on Unreal Engine 5, this MMORPG delves into Norse mythology with player-skill-focused combat and massive cross-server battles. It’s a look at what the new generation of free-to-play online games can deliver graphically.
Mental cooperation and Reddit-style scares
The list also includes some offbeat experiences. Off Course has a premise that stands out: a cooperative puzzle where you play alone… with yourself. Due to a time loop, you record the actions of three different pirates to combine them and solve puzzles. It’s a refreshing mechanic earning very positive early impressions.
For fans of weird horror, there’s Them’s Tale. If you spend hours reading creepy stories or unsettling Reddit threads, this one’s aimed at you. Its narrative draws from that form of digital storytelling and promises serious scares. The first part is available for free as a pilot episode to hook you into the story.
Classic survival and platform competition
Finally, Beat Survival focuses on pure survival with local co-op. With a friend nearby you can share duties like driving, fishing, salvaging, and, of course, dispatching hordes of zombies that keep appearing.
This Steam move is deliberate. The battle for player attention between Valve and the Epic Games Store is still intense in 2026. While Epic sticks to offering one or two big-budget titles per week, Steam prefers flooding its store with indie games and experimental experiences that often become viral hits.
My advice: visit the store, grab eWorlds before April 16, and try these new worlds. The risk is zero and you might find your next several-hundred-hour obsession.
