Honor doubles down on airflow with six fans

Honor has tossed out the usual laptop cooling playbook and unveiled a radical gaming machine in China. The new Honor Win H9 skips the typical two- or three-fan approach in favor of an unprecedented six-fan layout, aimed squarely at eliminating the thermal throttling that plagues long gaming sessions.

This is an unusual internal design for a 16-inch chassis. While rivals rely on vapor chambers or liquid metal to control temperatures, Honor went with raw airflow. The Win H9 uses a 2+4 arrangement: two intake fans on the bottom and four exhaust fans mounted at the rear.

That architecture boosts airflow by 57% versus conventional designs. You’ll need that headroom because the Win H9 houses serious hardware. Configurations include up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus paired with an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti, delivering a combined power draw of 270W. That’s notable for a laptop that stays relatively compact rather than becoming a bulky roadcase.

300Hz panel and a curious anti-motion-sickness feature

The Win H9’s 16-inch display is built for extreme smoothness: 2560×1600 resolution with a 300Hz refresh rate. Creative professionals get a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for accurate color work.

Honor also added a biometric that stands out: a 3D anti-motion-sickness system. The company claims this feature reduces nausea symptoms by 58%. For players who suffer from motion sickness after intense first-person sessions, that tech could be a practical benefit. The 92Wh battery supports fast charging, reaching 60% in 30 minutes.

The more modest Win H7

Not everyone needs the H9’s cooling hurricane. Honor also introduced the Win H7, a more restrained option aimed at the upper-midrange market.

Key differences:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-14650HX (previous generation).
  • Graphics: Choices between RTX 5060 and RTX 5070.
  • Display: 180Hz refresh rate and sRGB color gamut.
  • Cooling: Traditional cooling system, without the six-fan layout.

This lineup lets Honor cover multiple price tiers, although the H9 is clearly the headline-grabbing model.

Availability and pricing

Both laptops were announced in Chengdu and are, for now, exclusive to the Chinese market. The Win H7 is already on sale. The more powerful Win H9 will go on sale starting May 6.

Pricing starts at approximately €1,650 for the Win H9 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 and an RTX 5060, and rises to about €2,550 for the top configuration with the Ultra 9 and RTX 5070 Ti. The Win H7 begins around €1,250. Honor has not revealed if or when either model will be sold globally.

If they do arrive internationally, the Win H9 would bring a challenger to the gaming laptop market with a willingness to prioritize airflow over more incremental cooling tweaks.
