QNAP folds backup apps into Hyper Data Protection
QNAP Systems has consolidated its various data protection tools under a single brand: Hyper Data Protection, or HDP. The move is meant to simplify management of the company’s backup portfolio across physical and virtual environments, SaaS platforms, and content management systems.
What changes for existing users

The rebrand is intended to be transparent. According to QNAP, administrators and home users do not need to take technical action for the identity change.
Continuity of service: Installed applications and existing configurations remain functional; no software reinstallation or data migration is required.
Licensing: Current licenses and scheduled backup jobs remain unchanged and continue to run without interruption.
Interface: The primary visible change is updated product names and iconography within QTS or QuTS hero.
Portfolio name mapping
QNAP has provided a direct mapping between the previous application names and their new HDP counterparts to help users identify each tool in the consolidated lineup.
Conclusion and availability
Bringing the tools together under the Hyper Data Protection brand reflects QNAP’s intent to present a more cohesive ecosystem. While the change is largely aesthetic and a matter of market positioning, it should make it easier to identify the right tool for specific workloads.
The updates showing the new names are being rolled out gradually through QNAP’s official App Center.
