Release and PC launch details

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrived on PC on March 19, 2026, via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Nixxes Software partnered with Kojima Productions for the port, adding native support for DLSS, FSR and XeSS, full ray tracing, ultra-wide 32:9 support, including in cinematics, and complete DualSense integration.

Players who finished the PS5 version have a concrete reason to return: the new “To The Wilder” mode launches simultaneously on PC and console.

Back in Sam Bridges’ world

The story picks up eleven months after the events of the first game. Sam Porter Bridges, played by Norman Reedus, is back on the road. This time his mission runs from Mexico to Australia, where he must traverse an entire continent to reconnect territory to the Chiral Network and stop humanity’s extinction.

The cast matches Hideo Kojima’s ambitions. Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna and Troy Baker share the screen, alongside special collaborations from George Miller, Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn. Cinematically, this is the closest Kojima Productions has come to an interactive film.

To The Wilder: for players who want a tougher ride

The centerpiece of this update is the new “To The Wilder” mode. Harsher environments, more aggressive and lethal enemies, and scarce resources turn every delivery into a survival trial. It is not for everyone, but for players who have already mastered the base campaign it provides the missing challenge.

Other new content in the update includes:

  • VR training: the “Trapped in a Strange Dimension” area with combat against Neil, unlocking exclusive rewards like head tapes
  • Chiral feline: access to DHV Magellan’s private room with integration into the revamped Photo Mode
  • Full parity: everything is available simultaneously on PS5

What Nixxes brought to PC

Nixxes delivered a solid technical PC version that leverages available hardware. Native support for 32:9 in cinematics is a notable touch many ports omit, and here it is included.

Social Strand System returns

The Social Strand Service is back with its asynchronous logic intact. Structures you build, resources you leave behind and messages you place in-world directly affect other players’ experiences, and their contributions affect yours.

Linking a PlayStation Network account unlocks an exclusive suit inspired by the PlayStation logo and unique backpack emblems.
